Shortlisted for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Short, 116 CAMERAS follows a Holocaust survivor taking part in an innovative project to preserve her memories. Facing a rapidly diminishing population of survivors, the USC Shoah Foundation embarks on an ambitious initiative to capture testimony as interactive holograms. Using innovative technology, users have virtual conversations with Holocaust survivors about their life experiences, serving to educate generations to come. Among the subjects who agree to participate in this new storytelling platform is Eva Schloss, Anne Frank’s stepsister and a survivor of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. Surrounded by a twinkling constellation of cameras, Eva relives painful memories while demonstrating her aptitude for healing and rebirth, bearing witness long into the future.
