Recently, I made a post expressing my disappointment with Ukrainians who don’t use their social media platforms to raise awareness about Ukraine. Some reached out to me privately to explain why they remain silent.
I was shocked to learn how often Ukrainians are being silenced and discriminated against, especially in workplaces where Russians hold influence. Ukrainians are subtly discouraged from speaking about Ukraine or the war, as “no one wants to be professionally associated with sadness and conflict.”
One individual – let’s call him Yaroslav – told me he stopped writing about Ukraine on LinkedIn and even deleted his posts because he was fired from his previous job for doing so. The official reason given for his termination was “company reorganization,” but this happened immediately after his posts about Ukraine.
Another person, who works in Silicon Valley, told me that Russians began threatening him, warning him to “keep quiet, or it would affect his career.” He further shared that “Russians are everywhere, and they hold influential positions in all companies.”
Some Ukrainians have had to close their social media profiles to prevent their employers from seeing what they write. Even at companies that outwardly support Ukraine and provide aid to Ukrainian people, there is an underlying hesitation to be publicly associated with the war.
Personally, I was approached by a donor offering $150,000 in medical supplies for wounded Ukrainian soldiers. But when they saw my LinkedIn posts, they withdrew their offer. I’m not naming them because, unlike them, I actually have some decency.
Yes, Ukrainians are being silenced and discriminated against in the U.S. Meanwhile, “rashists” spread their propaganda and organize private gatherings, like those in Miami, where they raise millions of dollars to support Russia’s genocidal actions.
My question is: Where is the FBI? Why aren’t they shutting down Moscow’s influence in our own backyard? Why hasn’t Russia been recognized as a terrorist state in the U.S.?
Please, help me to spread this information. Maybe some government officials will actually hear and do something about it.
