The Decolonizing Wealth Project (DWP) through its funding vehicle, Liberated Capital, have announced grants totaling $2 million as part of their #Case4Reparations funding initiative.
The #Case4ReparationsFund is an annual funding vehicle supporting local, regional, and national movement-building and advocacy efforts that advance reparations in the United States by amplifying conversations and campaigns to address the racial wealth gap. This year’s cohort of grantees includes 32 Black-led organizations from across the country. Since its launch in 2021, DWP has distributed $8.7 million to 59 organizations. The latest recipients include Justice for Greenwood, National Conference of Black Lawyers, Reparations Education Project, and Equity and Transformation.
“For reparations to be actualized in the United States, we must establish a vision that inspires and unites our people in the movement,” said DWP reparations program director Richard Wallace. “It is imperative that both the vision and the work toward that vision is funded at scale. Decolonizing Wealth’s #Case4Reparations fund has played a pivotal role in bringing attention and funding to the movement in philanthropy and beyond. I look forward to leading this program and collaborating with our grantee partners across the country to win reparations at the local and state levels.”
