People of color disrespected

U.S. removes panels honoring Black soldiers at World War II cemetery in the Netherlands. In Margraten, Netherlands, ever since displays honoring Black troops who helped liberate Europe has been removed, guests have been filled with disgust. Locals have taken it upon themselves to have a grave to take care of.

The American Battle Monuments Commission responsible for maintaining memorial sites outside of the U.S. removed the panels as directed by the Trump administration. We know who directed it. He has made it plainly clear, if you are an American of color, you have no place in this society. To people of color, all ages, open your eyes, clear your brains and understand this administration despises you. These panels recognized men who gave their lives for this country.

This president dodged military service (bone spurs). My uncle fought in North Africa against Field Marshall Erwin Rommel. When he returned home to Florida, he was still treated as a second- class citizen. Realizing that, he elected to move to Los Angeles to protect my grandmother and I because the military had taught him how to deal with those damnable situations. 1945 and 2026 — mirror images.

Need to restore our democracy

President Trump killed innocent fishermen (innocent until proven guilty), pirated foreign oil tankers, and kidnapped a president of a sovereign nation and his wife. Prohibited by our U.S. Constitution.

Trump is in the process of stealing their oil which he calls ours. More fossil fuel means more climate chaos while California is up in flames and flooding. Nonsensical. Do the billionaires not see that it affects what is most dear to them: money/economy. We know they care not about the resulting deaths and human suffering. They need to stop Trump from causing domestic destruction.

We need to call for meetings of all our political groups. Schedule town hall meetings with our representatives so our community can demand action. Reps should present their options and act on all of them. Grassroots political groups must lobby on behalf of the people. Write. Call our reps both on behalf of the groups and individually. Call for boycotts. Call for protest marches that hurt.

We need to take action. Respect justice, international sovereignty. Meanwhile, restore democracy at home now.
