Stellantis has announced a worldwide recall of more than 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks because some second-row seat belt buckle anchors may not have been properly attached to the vehicle’s body structure. The recall applies to model years 2019 through 2026 and affects vehicles sold in North America and other international markets.
According to the automaker, the affected trucks may have an improperly secured buckle anchor for either the second-row center seat or the second-row driver-side seat. If the anchor is not correctly attached, the seat belt system may not perform as intended during a collision, potentially increasing the risk of injury to passengers.
Stellantis said it is aware of one injury that may be connected to the issue. The company reported no fatalities associated with the defect at the time of the announcement.
Product Liability
Most of the recalled vehicles are in the United States, where approximately 1.27 million trucks are included. The recall also covers about 156,000 vehicles in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico and roughly 75,000 in markets outside North America. Together, those figures account for just over 1.5 million vehicles globally.
Owners of affected Ram 1500 trucks will receive notices from the manufacturer with instructions to contact an authorized dealer. Dealers will inspect the second-row center and driver-side seat belt buckle anchors. If an anchor is found to be improperly attached, technicians will secure it correctly to the vehicle body.
The recall comes as Stellantis continues to address operational and financial challenges across its global business. However, the company’s immediate focus in this action is identifying affected trucks and completing the required inspection or repair. Vehicle owners should review official recall communications, confirm whether their truck is included and arrange dealer service if requested. The inspection is intended to ensure the relevant rear seat belts are anchored as designed.
