The nationwide recall, announced by the Food and Drug Administration on August 18, 2026, covers specific items sold in six-count packages and 24-count variety packs at major retailers nationwide.
The affected six-count products include Strawberry, Watermelon, Grape, Tangerine and Black Cherry fruit bars. Certain 24-count Outshine Variety Pack fruit bars are also included. Dreyer’s said no other Outshine products or flavors are affected, and no illnesses or injuries had been reported at the time of the FDA’s official announcement.
According to the company, the recall was initiated as a precaution following the consumer complaints. Because only specific production runs are involved, customers should compare the UPC, batch code and best-before date printed on packages with the recall list published on the FDA’s website before deciding whether product is affected.
Consumers who confirm that they have a recalled package are advised not to eat the fruit bars. Dreyer’s recommends discarding the product or returning it to the retailer where it was purchased for a full refund. The guidance applies even when the bars appear undamaged and no glass is visible.
The recall follows a series of food and pet-product withdrawals, but it is limited to the listed Outshine items. Shoppers do not need to dispose of unaffected Outshine bars.
