This International Center for MultiGenerational Legacies of Trauma webinar is held on the margins of the International Day of Peace (September 21). (Audience members are encouraged to watch previous peace-related webinars.) International panelists will present and discuss a range of perspectives, conceptual classifications and meanings of peace and how they apply to the turbulent times we live in. Members of the ICMGLT Youth Working Group will respond and reflect from their viewpoints as both youth and ancestors of future generations.
Speakers:
Hereditary Chief Phil Lane Jr.
Hereditary Chief Phil Lane Jr., an enrolled citizen of the Ihanktonwan Dakota and Chickasaw Nations, is an Indigenous educator, author, community-development leader, and advocate for planetary peace. For nearly six decades, chief Lane advanced culturally grounded healing, education, justice, self-determination, and environmental stewardship worldwide. Co-founder of the Four Worlds International Institute, he serves as an Honorary Board Member of ICMGLT, bringing Indigenous wisdom and practical action to multigenerational healing initiatives.
Sandra Pogodda, PhD
Sandra Pogodda is a Senior Lecturer in International Relations at the University of Manchester. She completed her PhD at the University of Cambridge as a Marie Curie Fellow before working at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, the United States Institute of Peace and the University of St Andrews. Her research focuses on the dilemmas of contemporary revolutions and peacemaking in the multipolar order.
Dr. Youssef Mahmoud
Dr. Youssef Mahmoud is Senior Adviser Emeritus at the International Peace Institute in New York. He is a former UN Under-Secretary-General and has headed peace operations in several Central African countries. He is a member of the Board of the International Center for Multigenerational Legacies of Trauma and currently serves as Co-chair of Home for Humanity, a global network of changemakers working for planetary healing and human unity.
Ugo Solinas
Ugo Solinas has over twenty years of service in the United Nations. He is currently Deputy Director in the UN Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs and the Department of Peace Operations (DPPA-DPO). Prior to joining DPPA-DPO he served as a Senior Political Affairs Officer in the Executive Office of the Secretary-General and held a range of positions in the field covering a range of country situations from Haiti to Cote d’Ivoire.

Oemwa Johnson
Oemwa Johnson is a Kiribati youth advocate and recent graduate of Brigham Young University–Hawaii, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Accounting with a minor in Pacific Island Studies. Her interests include youth leadership, peacebuilding, environmental issues, and the intergenerational experiences of Pacific Island communities. She is passionate about amplifying youth and Pacific voices in international conversations and contributing to efforts that promote peace, resilience, and a better future for generations to come.
Jeremy Maletzky
Jeremy Maletzky is a first-year student of Legal Studies and Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley. Since meeting Dr. Danieli during a United Nations Nuclear Disarmament Conference in NYC, he has developed a passion for convening intergenerational dialogue, centered around topics such as what peace could look like for the future generation and how youth can become uplifting, future ancestors.

A clinical psychologist, traumatologist, victimologist and psychohistorian, Dr. Danieli is Founder, Executive Director and Senior Representative to the United Nations of the International Center for MultiGenerational Legacies of Trauma (ICMGLT); Director, Group Project for Holocaust Survivors and their Children and Past-President, International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies.
