ALMOST AN ISLAND is a documentary-in-progress that follows one family in Arctic Alaska. The story revolves around Elmer Goodwin whose grandparents taught him his subsistence skills at a young age. Now a grandfather himself, he’s focused on teaching his own grandchildren what they need to know so they can help preserve their Iñupiaq traditions–not an easy task in this time when climate change threatens the fish and wildlife that are at the center of Iñupiaq culture.
