Fred was the beloved husband of Dr. Rebecca Shiffman, and father of Daniel Terna (Tara Ramadan). He lived a remarkable life, about which you can read in Painting Resilience, written by Kane Street’s own Julia Mayer. Fred was a model for us all and will be missed beyond measure.
The funeral will be in the Sanctuary at Kane Street Synagogue (236 Kane Street, Brooklyn, NY 11231) this Sunday, December 11 at 10:00am.
The service will be broadcast at kanestreet.org/livestream.
Shiva information will follow soon.
Between now and Sunday, you are all encouraged to do Jewish learning in his memory, recite psalms (tehilim) or explore Fred’s art. Donations may be made in his memory to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., or to the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Battery Park.
We pray for the neẖama (comfort and consolation) of Rebecca, Daniel, Tara, and all of Fred’s loved ones, and that his memory will forever be a blessing to them and to the numerous people whose lives he touched.
