              <text>Reaching the three targets of the European Pillar of Social Rights (EPSR) Action Plan is the litmus test for effective EPSR implementation. While the EPSR puts forward a prima facie balance between employment, equal opportunities and social protection, two important questions arise: a) whether and to what extent the resources available at EU level are sufficiently balanced across the different dimensions of the EPSR; and b) which implications this may have for achieving the 2030 poverty target. Analysing the three domains of the EPSR, its Action Plan and the wider EU legal framework of the principles contained in the EPSR, the paper argues that abundant EU resources are available for the areas of equality and employment, but fewer for social inclusion. The empirical evidence on poverty trends over the past decades, however, points to important successes in terms of employment and (gender) equality, but not with respect to social inclusion: a significant increase in employment and defeminisation of poverty have been accompanied by greater precarity for low-skilled men and women. Particularly striking is the rise in the risk of poverty among jobless households, linked with the weakening of the poverty reduction capacity of social protection for this group. Meeting the European social inclusion targets will thus require policies that duly focus on strengthening the framework for social inclusion and social protection.</text>

              <text>The inability to address institutional harm is a criticism of Western, liberal democracies and is particularly pertinent for settler colonial contexts where violence is structural and often seen as occurring solely in the past. Through a lens of “implication,” as developed in Michael Rothberg’s 2019 book The Implicated Subject, I assess the role of collective responsibility of and for settler colonial institutions. Through a case study of the Canadian Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Mandate and Calls to Action, alongside a review of the commission’s summary reports, I evaluate how institutions in settler colonial contexts see themselves implicated (or not) for colonial policies and how these forms of responsibility are negotiated within transitional justice processes. The lens of implication can be a catalyst for understanding our associated relationality to institutional harm/violence, how we are involved in it, and how we can begin to recognize the potential for its dismantling.</text>

              <text>This Special Issue interrogates the limitations and possibilities of truth within global efforts to address historical injustice. Over the past 30 years truth commissions have become ubiquitous in response to authoritarian regimes and colonial legacies. However, their ability to facilitate meaningful transformation is increasingly contested. In this editorial we explore what a decolonial reckoning, rather than reconciliation, with the past and colonial logics of power, might mean. In doing so, we argue that the liberal, modernist imaginary of justice on which many truth processes have been premised, is constraining our imagination of more radical ‘fugitive’ forms justice. Drawing from contributions from Australia and other global contexts this special issue investigates these limitations and the transformative potential of truth as a decolonial, sovereign, embodied and relational praxis. Contributors engage with the pluriversality of truth in ways that trouble the nation-state and centre the sovereignty and onto-epistemology of racialised and First Nations peoples, often excluded from transitional justice processes, thus offering pathways for radical resistance, resurgence and prefigurative transformation.</text>

              <text>L’intervention policière auprès d’enfants pose de multiples défis, lesquels seraient d’autant plus importants dans les communautés autochtones où des tensions sociales sont observées entre de leurs membres et des policiers Bien que quelques auteurs se soient penchés sur les services policiers autochtones, très peu se sont intéressés au vécu des policiers œuvrant au sein de ces communautés. Ainsi, l’objectif de cette étude est de documenter les enjeux opérationnels, interpersonnels et culturels associés à l’intervention policière en milieu autochtone au Québec, lorsque celle-ci concerne des enfants. Sept policiers autochtones ou allochtones, travaillant dans différentes communautés autochtones du Québec, ont participé à une démarche de méthode d’analyse en groupe (MAG). À partir du verbatim intégral de ce processus de recherche, une analyse de contenu thématique a été menée. L’arborescence montre l’émergence de plusieurs concepts en lien avec l’intervention policière dans ces milieux où vivent des enfants dont la sécurité est compromise. Notamment, il est question de la proximité citoyenne, de la récurrence des problématiques et du manque de communication entre les divers services de soutien. Pour y faire face, les participants s’entendent pour dire qu’il importe d’ouvrir le dialogue pour favoriser la concertation entre les services policiers et les services de soutien, dont la Direction de la protection de la jeunesse (DPJ).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Police interventions involving children present multiple challenges. This is even more so the case in Indigenous communities where social tensions are present between police officers (Indigenous and non-Indigenous) and community members. While certain researchers have studied Indigenous policing, very few have explored the topic through the lens of police officers’ experiences working in these communities. As such, this study aims to document the operational, interpersonal and cultural issues associated with police interventions involving children in Quebec’s Indigenous communities. Seven Indigenous and non-Indigenous police officers working in various Quebec Indigenous communities partook in a group-based method of analysis. A thematic analysis was then carried out using the transcript that resulted from this research process. Via thematic content analysis, several concepts emerged related to police interventions involving children whose safety is compromised. These include citizen proximity, the recurrence of issues and the lack of communication between various support services. To address these issues, participants agreed on the importance of fostering communication that encourages collaboration between police and support services, including the Director of Youth Protection (DYP).</text>

              <text>For Indigenous populations, one of the most recognized acts of historical trauma has come from boarding schools. These institutions were established by federal and state governments to forcibly assimilate Indigenous children into foreign cultures through spiritual, physical, and sexual abuse and through the destruction of critical connections to land, family, and tribal community. This literature review focuses on the impact of one of the oldest orphanages, asylums, and Indigenous residential boarding schools in the United States. The paper shares perspectives on national and international parallels of residential schools, land, truth and reconciliation, social justice, and the reconnection of resiliency-based Indigenous Knowledge towards ancestral strength, reclamation, survivorship, and cultural continuance.</text>
