Netanyahu’s coup has unleashed a fear in Israel not seen since the Yom Kippur War. Like a tightrope walker who suddenly looks at his shoes, and then at the abyss, we are increasingly aware of the fragility of our existence here, but this time our enemies, our destroyers, have come from within
I’m sitting here in the US reading with admiration your article, “Existential Fear.” It no doubt shed light on what taking place today in Israel. I find two important points missing. One is that the Zionist project underestimated the process of melting in the big pond. Ask a sociologist, “People are People” they carry life long imprints from cultures they came from. Fighting the enemy was the cement that brought all people together. Perpetual wars not enough to keep spirits up. Second existential erosion of the palestinians is happening since 1948 and before. Alienation of both people are not the solution. This will destroy any hope for peace.
