Anti-coup protesters gathered in Bangkok and Tokyo to mark the second anniversary of the 2021 military coup in Myanmar on February 1. The country’s military seized power from the elected government of Aung San Suu Kyi, violently cracking down on any form of opposition. The United Nations, which has accused the military of war crimes and crimes against humanity, says about 1.2 million people have been displaced and over 70,000 have fled Myanmar.
