Recorded from a Zoom presentation on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, “Survivor Recollections: The High Holidays After Liberation” features Terezín survivors Vera Schiff, Pedro Seidemann, and Fred Terna in a conversation moderated by Foundation President & Artistic Director, Murry Sidlin. The program explores the survivors’ memories of the first Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur after liberation, if and how they observed the High Holidays, and what it felt like to be Jewish after liberation. Because music is central to The Defiant Requiem Foundation’s mission, and such an important part of the High Holidays, the program also includes music from Max Bruch’s “Kol Nidrei” performed by cellist Julian Schwarz and pianist Marika Bournaki.
