From disinformation and climate inaction to large-scale wars, global risks are accelerating, overlapping, and exposing deeper failures in how we govern our societies, economies, and technologies.
At the root of many of these vulnerabilities is the persistent failure to uphold and protect human rights.
When rights are denied, inequalities deepen, trust erodes, and institutions lose legitimacy. Societies grow more fragile, more divided, and less able to manage crises – let alone prevent them.
What’s even more alarming is that as these risks intensify, our collective capacity to respond is falling further behind. Lack of coordination and trust, poor prioritization and underfunded institutions are weakening our ability to take collective action.
Now more than ever, we need to protect and promote human rights, and to renew international cooperation grounded in justice, equity, and shared responsibility.
Anything less puts our safety and security at greater risk, now and in the future.
