The impact of social media on situations of conflict and humanitarian crisis is of growing concern, especially as platforms move away from their content moderation responsibilities in the name of “freedom of expression”. This is of particular concern since most humanitarian crises are in Global Majority countries, where language capacity for content moderation is often less than it should be.
