On Wednesday, December 7, 2022 the public is invited to a sneak preview showing of the documentary film, “Transcendence,” – which focuses on therapeutic work at the Bellevue Program for Survivors of Torture (PSOT). The film, created by the Emmy and Sundance Award winning team at Naked Eye Productions, follows four of PSOT’s clients on their healing journeys, as they overcome their past trauma and the current challenges of adapting to life in the US; including navigating the asylum process.
So please check out the flyer, click on the link, and reserve your free tickets now!
This will be a hybrid event, with the live viewing taking place at International House’s Davis Hall in beautiful uptown Manhattan and virtual viewing available through the link embedded in the attached flier. The event is free and will include a brief panel discussion with the filmmakers and PSOT’s Director, Dr. Hawthorne Smith.
This is an important step in a larger response to this critical moment in global history. How do we respond to forced migrants, asylum seekers, and survivors of human rights abuses? How does healing take place? These questions loom large as we plot our way forward and decide what sort of society we aspire to be.
