#STANDWITHUKRAINE

On January 22, Ukrainians celebrate the Day of Unity of Ukraine. This holiday commemorates the 1919 signing of the agreement that would for the first time unite the eastern and western portions of Ukraine, each of which had been under imperial domination for centuries. The declared state was the precursor of the Ukraine of today, which valiantly defends its right to sovereignty and self-determination as it bravely fights off the lethal aggression of its invader. In true friendship, freedom-loving countries around the world have shown their commitment to supporting Ukraine, including neighboring Poland which has allowed millions of Ukrainian refugees to find a home away from home. In recognition of the Ukrainian Day of Unity, the Polish government has launched the #UnifyUkraine campaign, a public service initiative to raise American awareness of Russia’s ongoing invasion that has torn apart the country and families of Ukraine. At the heart of the campaign is the sunflower, the national flower of Ukraine. In NYC this weekend, visit the Sunflower Garden at Flatiron Plaza. Take to social media to post a sunflower – choose from samples on the Unify Ukraine website or upload your own photo or creation. Together, we can help free Ukraine from this occupation and unify this beautiful land and people once again.
