Biden’s decision comes as Turkey-U.S. relations are at a low point, and the EU is threatening Ankara with sanctions

U.S. President Joe Biden’s explicit use of the term “genocide” in his speech in a ceremony marking the 106th anniversary of the massacre of Armenians by the Ottoman regime – a first among American presidents – came very late. But come it did, and for this he should receive international gratitude. Now it’s time for Israel to also cast off the bindings of rhetoric that do not recognize the Armenian genocide, to stop using the term “Armenian tragedy” – as if it fell from the sky – and adopt Biden’s clear and precise wording.
