he 2025/26 global Women Peace and Security Index (WPS Index) scores and ranks 181 countries on women’s wellbeing. It uses 13 indicators that span women’s inclusion, justice, and security to generate scores from 0 (worst) to 1 (best). Denmark continues to lead the rankings, while Afghanistan performs the worst.
The fifth edition of the WPS Index reveals progress on women’s status is stalling globally. It also shows that improvements can come from some of the most conflict-affected places.
The WPS Index is produced by The Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security, in collaboration with the Peace Research Institute Oslo and with support from the Government of Norway.
