Mecklenburg County is celebrating women across the county and across the country for Women’s Equality Day. For the first time in three years, the Women’s Advisory Board is hosting a free event for women, teens and anyone who supports them.

Join the Women’s Advisory Board and neighbors from across the community to celebrate women and help them navigate a post-pandemic world as they rebrand and rediscover life. Three empowering speakers will share their expertise and experience on developing a sense of self, entrepreneurship, and the tools necessary to achieve their goals.

  • Clarissa Rankin: truck driver, business owner, and social media content creator
  • Sarah Colon Harris: journalist and founder of She Flew the Coop women’s empowerment organization
  • Chavonne Trevillion: estate planning attorney with Trevillion Law

The event will feature food and vendors from woman-owned businesses.

Attendees are asked to register here.

About Women’s Equality Day
In 1973, Congress designated Aug. 26 as “Women’s Equality Day.” The date was selected to commemorate the 1920 certification of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, granting women the right to vote. The observance of Women’s Equality Day also calls attention to women’s continuing efforts toward full equality.

About the Women’s Advisory Board
The mission of the Women’s Advisory Board is to promote the critical and emerging needs of women in Mecklenburg County through education and service. The Women’s Advisory Board is supported by Mecklenburg County’s Community Support Services department.
