Advisory Council Member Fernanda Frizzo Bragato coauthored a paper about the incompatibility between Brazilian hydroelectric expansion plans, and the urgent need to curb deforestation and to protect Indigenous lands, which, along with other problems, will probably enhance the violence against Indigenous communities in that region:
